Tip: Legally if it’s in your house, it’s yours
Posted by admin on December 21st, 2008 filed in Bargain, TipThat is according to my mother any way, who today arrived home from helping my brother and sister-in-law move to their new house with her arms full of Radley and Luis Vuitton handbags, MAC makeup, Berghaus fleeces and Ugg boots.
Bargain central.
Here’s the tale. The garage of the new house is full to the brim with designer gear that has been left behind by the previous owners — literally 100s of make up sets and countless boots, coats and handbags — most of it still with it’s original price tags attached. As the house is now legally my brother and sister-in-laws and the woman who previously lived there has moved out the contents really do belong to them.
I have however managed to convince my mum to take the items back and at least wait a while before taking any thing, the woman who lived there before is a police woman so the last thing I want to happen is for her to come back to claim the stuff and it all be long gone. I don’t want my mum to get into trouble.
I have promised to do some research on the matter just to check what she says is accurate and if it is, boy are we in for a good new year because I am going to get it all straight up on eBay — after we’ve taken what we want from it of course — and I would say there’s a good few thousand pounds worth of goodies there.

Sounds like you’ve hit the jackpot and I do agree that whatever is in the house when you move in belongs to you but how did the police woman come to have so much stuff like this - are they counterfeit and has she taken home prizes from the evidence room? Anyway sounds like the house was a great deal.

Haha, I’m not sure if whatever’s in your house, it’s yours… Especially if they have just moved in there! I would just leave all this stuff alone and maybe call the previous owner and remind her about it? If she says she doesn’t want it back, then go ahead and explore!
