I just heard that google are launching their own web browser called Chrome, they actually ‘accidentally revealed it‘ yesterday, silly sausages — I don’t know if I am excited or not. I love google, they bring out some seriously awesome stuff and I tend to prefer it, but does the Internet need a new web browser? I am already thinking about the extra time it’s going to take to make sure all my sites work in and look right in this new browser, as being by google practically guarantees it’s success.

For me it’ll have to be something special to make me switch from Firefox which is completely flawless imho — what will ‘Chrome’ be offering to entice people to it?

Here’s what I would rather google spent their time and efforts doing, making GBay — though they’d obviously come up with a better name for it. I am sick to death of EBay and their extortianate fees, arrogant attitude and monopoly on the market. Google are in my opinion the only people big enough to bring out an alternative that could be as big as Ebay, knock them down a peg or two!

And yes, I am going to completely ignore the fact I have not blogged here in over a month and just hope you don’t realise

** Update **

It’s now available for download here. Enjoy

Google are great & all, but they’ve done a bunch of stuff that *could* have gone mainstream, but haven’t (Google Talk much? :) ) – like you, I’m too attached to The Fox, I reckon Jesus himself would have a hard time prying my cold dead body away from it :)

Way to go, Google, making a browser that’s not ready for Mac yet

Gbay would be amazing.

I don’t think this browser will be a success, I personally would not use it, since everything you show/type/view what ever in this browser google will keep a record of. I prefer my opera :)

I suppose Google knows what they’re dealing with, but I totally get your concern – I went though a lot of problems making me site look the same in all browsers, and now there’s another one to make it fit 8)

Good luck on selling the alternative EBay to the Google-team (:

I’ve heard its nothing to brag about and that they should stick to their day job…>_>

I’m not too hyped on downloading it. Saw the features and it didn’t wow me in any way…Firefox FTW!

Haha Gbay…there’s an idea!

There are security concerns to consider. Google chrome is open source, so I’ll just wait until the new ideas are implemented in Firefox:)

Nice webcam photo, btw!

Honestly, I tried it out and wasn’t that much of a fan. I may look at it again but I’m not completely sure yet.

I’ll probably try it out at some point, but from the screenshots I’ve seen, it looks fairly basic and I don’t understand what’s so special about it except that it provides easy access to Google applications.

I’ve been using Chrome since it was launched and I’m pretty happy with the interface etc. Hopefully the next release will fix a couple of issues. The worst (for me) is the support for xml files in JavaScript is inferior to Firefox and Internet Explorer. :-(

@John, well hopefully the new non-beta release resolves all your issues! Hit the wrench and update!

That’s just awesome, I love you Google Chrome Board, and I love the way you hunt down (stalk, maybe?) your customers to give them what they want :)
