I love Subway, especially when we have vouchers to make it super cheap. But my local one has gone to the dogs recently, and unfortunately for me it’s the only one within a sensible distance – so no more Subway for me on a regular basis, because after the last two visits I refuse to go there again.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Subway after our last trip there on Tuesday this week. I don’t expect to get a response really, but it sure is nice to have a moan…and if even one person stumbles across this post and decides against going to my local Subway franchise, it’s a job well done.

Hello. I am writing to complain about my local Subway in Halifax, West
Yorkshire. My other half and I have been visiting this branch for a
few years now, and until recently had no problems. However in the last
few months things have gone seriously down hill, especially in the
last 2 visits we made which were so bad we have decided not to go
there ever again.

The staff seemed to be very uninterested in us to say the least, they
were not rude in any way but lacked common courtesy, we didn’t get a
hello, a thank you or a good bye – they were too busy holding
conversations between themselves, and on one of the occasions they
even had loud music blaring out (and it was not Subway FM!).

The place was very unclean, on the last occasion we went this was
especially apparent. There were three members of staff, and ZERO
customers when we went in…yet the place looked like it had not been
cleaned all day. Despite there only being 3 tables and 2 counters,
there was not a single fully clean table to sit at and the floor was
thick with dropped food, empty cups, and bags etc.

There was a huge lack of ingredients. On one occasion we ended up
leaving after trying to order 3 different subs only to be told there
was not the ingredients for it…no ham, no chicken, no meatballs. And
the last time we went there was no bread except for Italian, there was
no cheese, there was no bacon, there was no tomato and there was only
BBQ sauce. Plus the crisp stand was only about a quarter full and
despite it being past 6pm there was still ingredients from the
breakfast menu out. How is it possible to run out of so many
ingredients?! It is understandable to occasionally have one or two
things run out, especially after a busy period – but not so many.

And finally, only a minor complaint but despite the whole store being
plastered in advertising for the Scrabble promotion you have going on
at the moment, we were not given any scrabble products, and when asked
we were simply told “We’re out”.

I am sure you can understand why we have decided not to go there again.

WOW. I’ve NEVER encountered that when going to Subway!! Wow. I hope they’ll do something about it at the Subway you go to! The ones we go to are clean, and very friendly. So wow. LOL, that’s why I was interested in knowing why you were complaining about Subway. =P

Of all the restaurants I’ve been to in my life I never had that happen. That is just shitty. Hopefully they’ll listen to your email.

You know I’ve never had a Subway in my life! We were going to get our breakfast from there the other day with the coupons in the paper but ended up going to the deli instead!

Craven Midas Limited run the Subway Franchise in Halifax and Shipley. I wonder what Subway Central would think about the sub-standard (ho ho) performance of one of their branches?

Maybe contact their http://www.subway.co.uk/about.asp UK Corporate site or even the global site in Milford, Connecticut, USA http://www.subway.com/Applications/CustService/frmCustomerService.aspx, for the proud organization founded by Fred de Luca in 1965.

I’m sure they’d like to hear about one of their 29051 outlets underperforming and how much you like them but that you are now disappointed.

I suspect they’d drop a line or two to the branch in Halifax and we’ll all want to tune in again to see how you get on.
