Since I started my iPod fund I have had 3 places in my bookmarks that I have been looking at every few days, checking to see if any deals pop up. Apple where it is £129, Tesco where it is £129 (- 10% staff discount) and Amazon where it was £126, so imagine my surprise when I checked today and it was going for £114 It was through the Market Place via Pixmania, I don’t really understand why Pixmania are selling through Amazon or why Amazon totally replaced what they were selling with this, but given that I have used both Pixmania and Amazon many times before I had no worries over reliability etc and snapped it up, even with the £5.50 p+p it was still cheaper than the Tesco one (which has been out of stock the whole time) and my fund covers it, so I was thrilled as a drunk Irish man. :party:

Of course I am not that lucky and something had to go wrong, and sure enough it did…a while after purchasing it I got an email from the seller that said the following:

Ay ay ay, it’s probably fine if it’s literally only the manual in French, but what if everything about it is all French…I’d rather pay a few extra ££’s and get a 100% UK stock one. So, I am trying to cancel it now…but because it was bought through the marketplace all I can do is email them and wait and hope for a response before they dispatch it…otherwise it looks like I am getting me a French iPod. :smash:

I have used them since around 2001 and never had a single problem, up until a few months ago. Suddenly there’s this annoying flashing warning sign that tells us basically we have to upgrade to the newest version (seen here) but that our information cannot be taken with it, WTF…so I have to lose 5 years worth of statistics just like that…so in the end I decided not to upgrade my old account but sign up for a new one, that way I could still have my old stats available, but no longer updated sort of thing. So then, since I had my tracker on many random pages I just went through and did a search for ‘smway’ and replaced all instances with ‘newsway’ which was the URL to my new tracker…pain in the arse but what can you do? Then I went to do the same with the trackers on Plugboard.org, keep the old one I’d been using since 2004 and sign up to use a new one. A few days later I click on the old tracker to check my stats (and compare the differences between new and old) and I get this message saying my reports are offline, sign in here to find out why etc…so I try and sign in, can’t remember my password…try every single password I have ever used, eventually give up and realise I am going to have to retrieve it…I go to do so and…

Lost your login information: Please sign up again with a different login.

How fucking useless is that? If you lose your password that’s it, forget about it…so I fully lost 2 years worth of statistics there
But it doesn’t end there…like I said about the sway trackers, I just went through and replaced my old account name with my new one…when I had originally added the codes I always used to make the tracker smaller, changed the image dimension from like 40×40 to 10×10 (who didn’t, right?) only now they have some way of checking the code, so if you are violating the TOS your reports are taken offline until you fix the problem. Once I realised that I went through and tried to change all of the codes back, so there was no edits or changes…everything is fine for a few weeks, then again I get the reports offline error (example) and I go to fix it and it’s because of that same issue, I had the image changed to a smaller box on some god-forsaken-long-since-forgotten-about page (it was something to do with when I did the blogathon in 2003), so I fix it…then a few days ago again, my damn reports are offline…so I go login to see which page it’s on now…only I am told

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, so I lost 5 years worth of stats on swaymyway.com, then around 2 months worth of all new stats and I lost 2 years worth of stats on Plugboard.org. You could of course argue that some of it is my own damn fault for breaking the terms of service…and you’d be right, can’t argue much with that…but it’s still amazingly annoying and it’s something that everyone does with the extreme tracker code just because it’s so fugly when it’s all big.
The most annoying thing is the fact I have still signed up for another new account because I really like looking at these statistics and I don’t know of any similar sites…glutton for punishment hey?
