The title might be a slight exagheration…but really only a slight one. Pipex (my ISP) are now throttling my bittorrent downloads, rather than being able to do 80kbs I am now capped at 20kbs, this really does affect me…I’m almost too embarrassed to admit how much. I watch more TV on my computer than I do on my actual TV and now…I can’t, I will have to limit myself to only downloading a few shows a week! It’s like 10 of your favourite shows getting cancelled at once, soul destroying :depreshed::depreshed:

In other news…seems I signed up for the Free iPod thing at the wrong time, they just changed the rules so you now only have 90 days to get the 5 referrals, that blows my plan of just having the link up and hoping for the best, I’m already like 20 days into my limit so if I want that iPod I will have to push :fiery:

Finally, Bluetooth just will not work on my new phone (RAZR V3), it just won’t find anyone or anything nor will it be found!! Thankfully I can use USB to transfer things between my phone and PC which was my main reason for wanting to Bluetooth, but it’s still freaking annoying.

Woe is me, Woe is me :gloomy:

Aww… when it rains it pours. :(
Gah, downloading cap. That really must suck. When I go on my download frinzy, I want to be able to download a lot at the same time and quickly. Are there other providers in your area?

The free ipod thing, they must have realized they weren’t making good profit like it was doing. *sigh* Just some bad timing.

I know how you feel about the TV thing, I watch ALL the scrubs on my computer, like all of seasons 4 and 5 over again at the moment, as my boyfriend has stolen all my DVDs and DVD player. But now for some freaky reason my computer wont play DivX off my hardrive anymore, but they are ok from a CD! bizzare!!

Starlet, to overcome your bittorrent throttling problem, try changing the port(s) used by your bittorrent program. ISPs throttle ports known to be regularly used by bittorrent users. If your using Azureus, look at Options->Connetion, then change the incoming TCP value to a random number between 30000 and 60000.

F*** it il just tell you here… use utorrent enable the encryption option.. i think azueras has it too but i hate Az its too resource dependant F”%Ks with puter.. Utorrent is much better runs silently and works fine. 200k downloads.

Hey, I feel your pain… im on Pipex aswell, well not for much longer.

However, theres a little light at the end of the tunnel ( at least for bit torrent). Changing tcp and udp ports wont really get you any results…. however there are a few clients that now support encryption. Uh just read Stevens comments lol, he’s absoloutly right although I use Azurues as I find it a better client. Just make sure that you dont accept any connections from people that dont use encryption otherwise it wont work, and a final not on Azurues if you get 100% cpu blah blah then its because your Java isnt up to date or you have multiple instances installed….. good luck bro and screw Pipex!!!!!

[…] Translation - Starlet is switching broadband providers!! I knew this day would finally come, I have been with Pipex since December 2003, and I have been unhappy with them since approx…hmm…December 2003, I have been trying to move away from them for a long long time, but one thing or another has always made it so I had to stay…a quick search of my blog entries confirms as much, see here, here and here for example.
