post Category: Random post Comments (12) postJuly 3, 2005

The issue i’m having at the moment is that the layout changes depending on how many entrys i have, currently it only works when i have 2 entrys…when i have one entry the ‘sidebar’ appears directly below the blog…when i have 3 entrys the sidebar appears to the right of and below the blog and the first entry becomes smushed over the top of the page.

I don’t get it *shrug*

I want to get that fixed before i even start on anything else, cos if i can’t get the fundamental layout right then i’m gonna have to have a rethink! Does anyone know how i turn the comments to be popup though?

Blah, working out new blogging software is tedious and frustrating!

Yep, I know how to turn the comments into a popup. Find where you’re putting the comment code in the Main Template of the theme editor. You should have something like this where the comments are. (the ducks will be comments, for you, though)

I’m not sure if that’s the first line, I’m pretty sure it is. Alright, so now you change the first line there. Here’s what it should look like after:

Notice in from of the ‘comments_popup_script’ there are no // in the second line? That’s what needs to be done to get them into a popup instead of just on the page. Now go into your Popup Comments template, and you can customize everything there.

(I hope those PHP includes have shown up, if not I can email them to you)

Have you tried uploading your normal stylesheet and then adding little bits of the WP style codes until it integrates properly?

I hope you’re able to figure it all out. I know how frustrating it can be. I’d offer help, but I’m not familiar with WordPress. Good luck! :)

If you want to send me your coding, I can take a look. I like to think wordpress is the one thing on the web I actually have a handle on. :) Or you can always try posting at the wordpress forums (http://wordpress.org/support). Hope you can get it fixed!

The problem with the layout is definitely a coding problem. Maybe you are not closing the tables properly….you can try to fix it by re coding the wordpress part in the layout.

Hope you figure everything out. I use Greymatter. It is very easy. Have you used it before? THere is an awesome tutorial on it at Star-Girl.org. There’s tutorials on how to customise it and make comments pop up!
